Repercussions

The old gods. Huh. So they not only existed and interacted with the world, they had it in particularly for me. And it had something to do with my particle-runic-construction-theory thing that really needs a better name. Hah! My mom always said I’d do something special with my life. Of course, at the time she thought I was going to med school.

I was left with a dilemma. Several, in fact. The first was how I was going to pay my rent seeing as I was apparently unemployable. Kathy had offered to let me move in with her. That would be moving awfully fast, though. I didn’t think I could handle that on top of the realization that I was the focus of mystic powers beyond mortal ken.

What most would consider the more serious issue was how I was going to deal with my newfound infamy. It seemed like only a matter of time before my reputation leaked out beyond just professional rejection letters. What if the government got in on it? Would the old gods be happier if I was carted off somewhere? Or worse?

Just the standard concerns for a Friday.
