Out of Wine, Part 2

Jeff was already headed upstairs, two giggling women in tow, by the time Emily got back. Wanda's grin and wink followed him on his way. That man had such a gift. She was lucky. She briefly considered if they'd want company.

“I'm back!” Emily called, pushing open the door with her back. Her hands were burdened down by a large box, probably at least a dozen bottles. God, that woman was stronger than she looked.

“Thank you so much!” Wanda said, belatedly holding the door open as Emily wrestled the box to the table. “I was afraid some of our friends might wind up sober.”

“Well. Can't have that.” Emily peeked her head into the living room. “Wine delivery! Fill your glasses now!” The sound of cheerful laughter came in reply. A few minutes later, people started drifting into the kitchen to do just that.

“Is Jeff already upstairs?” Emily asked incredulously. “I can't believe that man.”

Wanda smirked and shook her head. “Here I was betting he'd need at least until nine.”

Emily hooked her arm over Wanda's shoulders. “You are a lucky one.”
